Kirklees Anglo-Scandinavian Society

This society was founded in the 1960s with the aim of providing educational and social links between the Huddersfield/Dewsbury area and the Scandinavian countries. At one time, there were over a hundred active members, but the society's membership is gradually declining and nowadays has only has a few active members (less than 10) with about twice as many additional participants at occasional social events throughout the year. Anyone who is Scandinavian or has an interest in Scandinavia is very welcome - you don't have to speak a Scandinavian language to come along to any of our meetings or functions. (For our purposes, Scandinavia means Denmark, Faeroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden).

CoScan is a confederation of such societies in the UK and in Scandinavia (see http://www.coscan.org.uk), though the Kirklees Anglo-Scandinavian Society is no longer a member, due to falling numbers.
